ARTERIAL EXAM of the EXTREMITIES

Your physician has ordered a study of the large arteries of the extremities. The arteries supply blood to your legs and arms. Common names for this study include ultrasound and doppler.
Several tests will be performed which detect narrowing or blockage of the arteries.
You can expect the test to take approximately one hour.
There are no needles or dye agents involved in this exam. In addition, there is no pain with this test.
Part of the exam will involve taking blood pressures of the arms and ankles.
On occasion, you may be asked to perform an exercise to aid the the accuracy of the test.
